Global Monetary Power Shifts from Dollar, China Stakes Claim, Rescues Currencies of Argentina and Russia

"Another strategic step to dislodge the dollar from its dominance.

By swapping yuan for rubles or pesos, China is putting yuan in the hands of two countries with significant consumer bases. And what are yuan used for besides propping up flailing currencies? Buying Chinese stuff!

Argentina and Russia are both resource exporters. Argentina’s economy pretty much hinges on exporting agricultural products, and also possesses oil and gas, precious and base metals, and bulk commodities. Russia’s economy is oil and gas. China can use the swapped pesos and rubles to buy these valuable and needed commodities from its trading partners."

The World Changes On Monday, December 29, 2014!

"...China has announced the launch of Yaun trading with Russian Rubles, set to begin on Monday, December 29, 2014!

So while the US continues to parade with "destroying" the Russian economy... Russia and China continue to be nudged by the west ever closer monetarily and strategically, until one day... China and Russia will announce a joint currency, one backed by both China's "surprising" gold reserves and Russia's commodity hoard."

OPEC ‘not panicking’, will intervene should oil drop to $70

"“At $70 a barrel, there will be panic in OPEC. We have become used to living with $100 a barrel,” said one OPEC official...

OPEC says the oil price will start rising in the second half of 2015 and will reach $177 per barrel within the next 25 years.

"We are concerned but we are not panicking," said Abdullah el-Badri, head of OPEC, said at a news conference for the release of the group's 2014 World Oil Outlook on Thursday.

The organization said it expects the price of crude oil will increase in the middle of 2015 to reach $110 per barrel. The OPEC reference basket will reach $124 per barrel in nominal terms by 2025 and $177 per barrel by 2040."

Will World Governments Confiscate Gold?

"We know that the U.S. government confiscated its citizen’s gold, allowing them to retain only $100 worth of gold, in 1933. Once confiscation was completed, two years later, the U.S. government devalued the dollar against gold from $20.67 to $35.00. This represented a 41% devaluation. Since the devaluation of the dollar was not reflected in foreign exchange markets in 1935, gold continued to be sold at $20 an ounce in countries outside the U.S. while the U.S. was paying $35. Treasury holdings of gold in the U.S. tripled from 6,358 tonnes in 1930 to 8,998 tonnes in 1935 (after the Act), and then to 19,543 metric tonnes of fine gold by 1940. Can it happen again? It certainly can. The U.S. government is in a worse financial situation than it was then."

NASA Admits That Winters are Going to Get Colder…Much Colder

"Climatologist John Casey, a former space shuttle engineer and NASA consultant, thinks that last year’s winter, described by USA Today as “one of the snowiest, coldest, most miserable on record” is going to be a regular occurrence over the coming decades.

Casey asserts that there is mounting evidence that the Earth is getting cooler due to a decline in solar activity. He warns in his latest book, Dark Winter, that a major alteration of global climate has already started and that, at a minimum, it is likely to last 30 years.

Banking industry culture fosters cheating, study suggests

"Bank employees cheated more after being asked about work.

The banking industry seems to bring out dishonesty in people, a new study suggests.

A team of Swiss economists tested the honesty of bank employees in a lab game that would pay off in cash if they cheated. When workers at an unnamed bank were asked about their home life, they were about as honest as the general public. But employees who had just been asked about work at the bank cheated 16 per cent more.

"Bank employees are not more dishonest than others," said Ernst Fehr of the University of Zurich, author of the study published Wednesday by the journal Nature. But he said when reminded of their job they become more dishonest, so something about the culture of banking "seems to make them more dishonest.""

Russia ends dollar/euro currency peg, moves to free float

"The Central Bank of Russia’s un-pegging of the ruble from the dollar and euro brings to an end two decades of exchange rate controls. The transition to a free exchange rate means monetary policy in Russia moves to interest rates and inflation targeting.

Experts say, this CBR decision deprives speculators of baselines in the currency market and will stabilize the exchange rate of the ruble against the dollar and euro in the short-term, TASS reports."

China Likely Bought 10,000 tons of Gold…and if They Did, Here’s Why

"The importance of China (and Russia) having re-balanced is it affords them an insurance policy against a dollar conflagration. If (when) the US runs into its next headwind, the only real answer the US has shown it is willing to entertain is more QE or a like program of monetization. But to be effective, it will need be larger than the previous editions. This dilution of the dollar (and all major currencies will be forced similarly continuing dilution to maintain “competitiveness”) absent US trading partners recycling dollars into Treasury’s (and thus the US diluting into a de-dollarizing world which will need fewer dollars just as the US pushes the “print” button)…this should mean too many dollars and fewer exporters trading utilizing them."

PM Fund Manager: US Will Start WW3 to Avoid Admitting Gold Reserves Are Gone

"...the full-on intensity of the recent intervention in the precious metals market is the most obvious signal of time expiring.

China has been accumulating physical gold at a stunning rate and now some research indicates that China’s Central Bank may have accumulated significantly more gold than anyone previously thought.

China has most likely maneuvered itself into owning the world’s largest stock of gold, which is where the U.S. had positioned itself after WW2. China has done this to a large degree by buying massive quantities of western Central Bank gold."

Gold Is Currency; No Fiat Currency, Including the Dollar, Can Match It

"Ron Paul asks the Bernanke if he thought gold was money. Bernanke almost swallows his tongue, stares blankly for a few seconds and then says, “no.”

Paul then asks why banks hold gold on their balance sheet?  Why not diamonds?  Bernanke says, “tradition, I suppose.”

So let me get this straight, banks hold billions of dollars of an asset that pays no interest or dividends on their balance sheet for reasons of "tradition".  nothing to do with anything else, just tradition.  uh, yea.  That must be it."

Global warming data FAKED by government to fit climate change fictions

"... in what might be the largest scientific fraud ever uncovered, NASA and the NOAA have been caught red-handed altering historical temperature data to produce a "climate change narrative" that defies reality.

Because the actual historical temperature record doesn't fit the frenzied, doomsday narrative of global warming being fronted today on the political stage, the data were simply altered using "computer models" and then published as fact."

Canada to establish first Chinese currency hub in North America

"When Stephen Harper was first elected Prime Minister he was adamant that he wouldn’t stop pressing china on human rights but critics say Harper has softened his stance since then and the new currency hub is proof.

Canada and China have signed a reciprocal currency deal that’s expected to dramatically boost exports.

The hub will foster far easier trade between the Canadian dollar and the Chinese yuan, also known as the renminbi. It makes Canada the first country in the Americas to have a deal to trade in the renminbi."

Iran launches Middle East's ‘biggest' gold plant, plans to double production

"Iran has opened a new gold processing plant, reportedly the biggest in the Middle East, hoping to double its production of precious metals. Using a unique technology, Tehran says it will now mine up to three tons of gold per year.

The new facility is located near one of the country's richest mines, Zareh Shuran. It is located 35 kilometers from the city of Takaab in northwest Iran, in an area where gold, silver, and mercury are extracted.

The gold ore reserves of the Zareh Shuran mine are estimated at 20 million tons."

Gold or Gunfire: Hedging Against the Collapse of the Dollar

"A global economic collapse has become unavoidable, said former chief economist of the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) William White in response to the BIS’ quarterly report in September 2013. Experts forecast that a global economic collapse may occur, overnight, some time at the end of 2014 or in 2015. The fact that private interests are holding the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Central Bank of England as well as the Bretton Woods institutions in a state of capture makes it improbable that the governments of the USA, UK and EU could prevent a collapse."

Twenty-four European banks fail financial stress tests

"European Banking Authority finds €25bn black hole in finances with nine banks in Italy failing the tests.

No UK banks failed although they are being subjected to fresh tests by the Bank of England which will publish the results on 16 December.

In Greece, three banks failed the stress tests set by the European Banking Authority, the overarching European banking regulator, with the same number failing in Cyprus. Ireland’s Permanent TSB failed.

The world’s oldest bank, Italy’s Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, was left with a shortfall of more than €2bn to fill in the coming nine months."

Gold at $7,000 article goes viral in Chinese media

"Although the U.S. Dollar is the reserve currency of the world today,
gold is the key to the new millennium of global trade balances.

The Dollar is losing its reserve status, holdings by Central Banks have
been going down for decades. Meanwhile, Chinese RMB holdings are
skyrocketing across the globe. The U.S. has been running trade deficits
for 30 years, when the Dollars start to go back onshore there will be a
global puke of the financial system and inflation levels the U.S. has not
seen in its entire history.

11 Facts About The Ongoing Fukushima Nuclear Holocaust That Are Almost Too Horrifying To Believe

"Is Fukushima the greatest environmental disaster of all time?  Every single day, 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima enters the Pacific Ocean.  The radioactive material that is being released will outlive all of us by a very wide margin, and it is constantly building up in the food chain.  Nobody knows for sure how many people will eventually develop cancer and other health problems as a result of the Fukushima nuclear disaster, but some experts are not afraid to use the word “billions”.  It has been well over two years since the original disaster, and now they are telling us that it could take up to 40 more years to clean it up.  It is a nightmare of unimaginable proportions, and there is nowhere in the northern hemisphere that you will be able to hide from it."

Harper government forcing media to be a co-conspirator in Conservative propaganda - CANADA

"Iron-fisted control, suppression of dissenting views, deception in Parliament, disinformation in propaganda, and relentless personal attacks. These are some of the key characteristics of Harper Conservatism – a self-serving ideology that's focused almost exclusively on maintaining power.

But in a document labeled “Not for Distribution, Internal Use Only,” the US Energy Department even estimated that the Fukushima release was up to 10,000 times what nuclear regulators predicted. If anything, the total fallout is still completely unknown, even as U.S. officials say its ‘all clear.’"

Canada Ratifies Controversial Chinese Investment Treaty

"Canada ratified a radical new trade agreement with China on September 12. According to critics, it puts both Canada’s resources and its ability to pass laws into the hands of a secret tribunal dominated by foreign judges.

On the surface, this agreement looks great. Both countries are supposed to benefit. But in reality, Canada just gave away part of its sovereignty for nothing in return."

Russia And India Begin Negotations To Use National Currencies In Settlements, Bypassing Dollar

"...there has been much talk about the strategic proximity between Russia and China, made even more proximal following the "holy grail" gas deal announced in May which would not have happened on such an accelerated time frame had it not been for US escalation in Ukraine.

And yet little has been said about that other just as crucial for the "new BRIC-centric world order" relationship, that between Russia and India... India agreed to create a task group to work out a mechanism for using national currencies in settlements. And so another major bilateral arrangement is set up that completely bypasses the dollar.

Canadian government faces constitutional challenge over FATCA deal

FATCA:  Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act

"Two women are suing the Canadian government over a controversial deal in which Canada has agreed to share the tax information of U.S. persons resident in Canada with the IRS.

Under the Canada-U.S. agreement, which was reached in February and which took effect on July 1, the Canada Revenue Agency is to provide tax information to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service about the estimated one million Americans and dual U.S.-Canadian citizens who reside in Canada. Canadian financial institutions are required to search their records for accounts held by clients who meet the definition of “U.S. person” under the law, then supply this information to the CRA so it can pass it to the IRS."

France rebels against austerity as Europe's recovery collapses

"France’s finance minister sends tremors through European capitals with a defiant warning that his country would no longer try to meet deficit targets.

The trend for part-time work sweeping the world: Part-time work dominating jobs in the United States, Canada, and Japan.

"The employment statistics do a good job concealing the true nature of the workforce. The unemployment rate has dropped dramatically since the recession ended largely because millions of Americans are now no longer considered part of the workforce. This is an easy way to boost the employment rate without actually creating new jobs. Another trend that seems to be growing around the world is that of part-time work. Part-time work and low wage labor go hand and hand. Part-time workers usually are not afforded the same benefits as those working full-time. They are also brought on with a just in time attitude and are treated as such when no longer needed. Part-time work has been growing before the recession and continues to do so today. In Canada, part-time work has been the dominant sector of employment growth. Low wage labor and part-time work go together like peas in a pod."

De-Dollarization Accelerates - China/Russia Complete Currency Swap Agreement

"The last 3 months have seen Russia's "de-dollarization" plans accelerate. First Gazprom clients shift to Euros and Renminbi, then the UK signs currency swap agreements with China, then NATO ally Turkey cuts ties and mulls de-dollarization, Switzerland jumps in the currency swap agreements, and BRICS create their own non-US-based funding vehicle, and then finally this week, Russia's oligarchs have shifted cash holdings to Hong Kong. But this week, as RT reports, Russian and Chinese central banks have agreed a draft currency swap agreement, which will allow them to increase trade in domestic currencies and cut the dependence on the US dollar in bilateral payments. “"The agreement will stimulate further development of direct trade in yuan and rubles on the domestic foreign exchange markets of Russia and China," the Russian regulator said."

Should Palestine switch from the shekel to Bitcoin?

"The money that circulates most in the Palestinian Authority (PA) is the Israeli new shekel; guided by an interest rate policy set monthly by the Bank of Israel, which dictates Palestinian finances.

Palestine has tried for decades to establish independence, but Israel has not been willing to give up its colony, so the occupation continues.

But for the first time in history, an emerging country like Palestine has the ability to secede from its occupying overlords by adopting its own cryptocurrency: Bitcoin. Not a shot needs to be fired. No UN votes are needed. No global peace talks. Just Bitcoin for the win.

19 Medics Killed, 17 Hospitals Bombed by Israeli Forces Since July 8th (2014)

"Since the Israeli military began its assault on the Gaza Strip on July 8th, Israeli forces have repeatedly targeted medics and medical centers who have been working feverishly to treat the over 9,000 people who have been wounded.

17 Hospitals, both public and private, have been directly targeted by the Israeli military.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has condemned the repeated attacks on medical workers and facilities, which are supposed to be excluded from any attacks during wartime under international law.

Attacks on medical facilities are considered to be a ‘grave breach’ of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which means it is considered a war crime. Another ‘grave breach’ is extensive destruction and appropriation of property not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly."

The truth you're not being told about the Toledo water crisis in Ohio: Chemical agriculture poisoned the water

"Algal blooms are a sign of a wildly imbalanced ecosystem. Before modern industrial agriculture came along and started polluting the lake, algae were kept in balance and didn't mass-produce the poisons that now contaminate the Toledo water supply.

What's happening is that all the fertilizer being dumped on nearby farm fields causes phosphorus runoff. This phosphorus runoff winds up in Lake Erie where it feeds the algae, resulting in algal blooms that produce the toxins. These toxins contaminate the drinking water supply and have led directly to the current water crisis."

The Edge of a Cold, Deep Abyss?

"The warmists have their models, grants and tidings of doom, but the researchers whose tree ring data has best predicted recent temperature trends see the mercury dropping, perhaps by as much as 4 degrees. If they are right, then there is reason to be worried, very worried indeed.

If this sounds like the reverse echo of the global warming crowd, how often have leftist wealth-redistributors been right about anything?  Given their track record, the exact opposite is the more likely outcome.  We should be ever thankful to them though. If it wasn’t for their melodramatic predictions attracting honest scientists into the climate science field, humanity would be sleepwalking into the climatic and agricultural disruption that is coming.  We will still have the consequent famine and death but we will know what’s causing it at the time.  We are on the edge of that abyss.  A vale of tears awaits.  Good luck to all of good heart."

Israeli soldier posts Instagram image of Palestinian child in crosshairs of rifle

"Breaking the Silence, an organisation of veteran Israeli combat soldiers campaigning to raise awareness about life in the West Bank, condemned the image. "This is what occupation looks like. This is what military control over a civilian population looks like," one member wrote on the group's Facebook page.

The image has been heavily criticised online. Electronic Intifada, a news site focused on Palestinian issues, described the photograph as "tasteless and dehumanising". The site published several other images from Ostrovski's Instagram page, including snaps of the soldier posing with heavy-duty guns."

Israel using flechette shells in Gaza

"Palestinian human rights group accuses Israel military of using shells that spray out thousands of tiny and potentially lethal darts."

B'Tselem, an Israeli human rights organisation, describes a flechette shell as "an anti-personnel weapon that is generally fired from a tank. The shell explodes in the air and releases thousands of metal darts 37.5mm in length, which disperse in a conical arch 300 metres long and about 90 metres wide".

The munitions are not prohibited under international humanitarian law, but according to B'Tselem, "other rules of humanitarian law render their use in the Gaza Strip illegal."

Nestle CEO says You Shouldn’t Have the Right to Water

"Water is of course the most important raw material we have today in the world. It’s a question of whether we should privatise the normal water supply for the population. And there are two different opinions on the matter. The one opinion, which I think is extreme, is represented by the NGOs, who bang on about declaring water a public right. That means as a human being you should have a right to water. That’s an extreme solution. And the other view says water is a foodstuff like any other and like any other foodstuff it should have a market better. Personally I think it’s better to give foodstuff a market value . . ."

OH REALLY?

"Water — which comes out of the earth freely — is necessary for the survival of every creature and plant on the planet. By making water a commodity — something only accessible from a big corporation like Brabeck dreams — our society will move into a dystopia where corporations decide who gets to live and who gets to die by rationing the most plentiful resource on the planet."

How Food Companies Exploit Americans with Ingredients Banned in Other Countries

"A list of ingredients that are banned across the globe but still allowed for use here in the American food supply recently made news.

Could these banned ingredients be contributing to the higher mortality and disease rates...?

The food industry does not want us to pay attention to the ingredients nor do they care about the negative effects from eating them. They certainly don’t care about the astronomical medical bills that are a direct result of us eating the inferior food they are creating."

Venezuela Airport Now Charging A Breathing Tax

"Anyone departing from the Simon Bolivar International Airport of Maiquetia in Caracas now faces a levy of 127 bolivars ($18) to pay for a new air conditioning unit installed earlier this year, according to a statement on the airport’s website.

The airport says its air conditioning system “eliminates contaminants” and injects ozone into the atmosphere to improve the environment and protect the health of passengers."

Guy shoots up his iPhone with a huge sniper rifle after Apple Inc bans popular Bitcoin app

"Apple Inc.’s ouster of popular Bitcoin app Blockchain from its App Store is causing a backlash, and some are going to extreme measures to show their displeasure.

Apple has been acting to suppress Bitcoin apps for years.

Bitcoins exist only as software, and transactions are completed via computing devices. Even though no physical currency exists, merchants from car dealers and Web stores are accepting the digital money. Mobile apps such as Coinbase, which was removed from the App Store last year, and Blockchain have become a popular way to make payments.

Blockchain had been downloaded 120,000 times before being removed. Apple has already shut out several other applications that facilitate digital-money payments from its online store."

Germany, France to mastermind European data network - bypassing US

"Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande will review plans to build up a trustworthy data protection network in Europe. The challenge is to avoid data passing through the US after revelations of mass NSA spying in Germany and France.

Merkel has been one of the biggest supporters of greater data protection in Europe since the revelations that the US tapped her phone emerged in a Der Spiegel news report in October, based on information leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

Earlier, France learned from reports in Le Monde that the NSA has also been recording dozens of millions of French phone calls, including those of the French authorities. According to the report, in just one month between December 10, 2012 and January 8, 2013, the NSA recorded a total of 70.3 million French phone calls."

CSEC exoneration a 'mockery of public accountability'

"A federal watchdog is attracting howls of protest from some privacy and internet experts after absolving Canada’s electronic spy agency of using data from a Canadian airport internet service to track thousands of passengers for days after they left the terminal.

The oversight body that monitors the super-secretive Communications Security Establishment Canada has concluded that the agency was not involved in “tracking of Canadians or persons in Canada.”

Instead, the oversight body says the spy agency was simply collecting so-called metadata in an exercise “to understand global communications networks.”

By law, CSEC cannot target Canadians anywhere in the world, nor anyone in Canada, including visitors."

The scandal of fiddled global warming data

"The US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record

... NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. "When a smartphone user opens Angry Birds, the popular game application, and starts slinging birds at chortling green pigs, spies could be lurking in the background to snatch data revealing the player’s location, age, sex and other personal information, according to secret British intelligence documents.

In their globe-spanning surveillance for terrorism suspects and other targets, the National Security Agency and its British counterpart have been trying to exploit a basic byproduct of modern telecommunications: With each new generation of mobile phone technology, ever greater amounts of personal data pour onto networks where spies can pick it up."

Apollo Astronaut: Climate Alarmism Is the ‘Biggest Fraud in the Field of Science’

"If we go back to the warmist hypothesis - not a theory, but, a hypothesis - they've been saying from the very beginning that carbon dioxide levels are abnormally high, that higher levels of carbon dioxide are bad for humans, and they thought warmer temperatures are bad for our world, and they thought we were able to override natural forces to control the earth's temperature. So, as I've looked into those, that's the problem that I've found, because I didn't find any of those to be correct - and, they certainly were not a theory, it was just their guess at what they wanted to see in the data they were looking at."

Esa's Cryosat sees Arctic sea-ice volume bounce back

"The bounce back in the extent of sea ice in the Arctic this summer was reflected also in the volume of ice.

This is close to 50% more than in the corresponding period in 2012."

Canadian libricide: Tories torch and dump centuries of priceless, irreplaceable environmental archives

"Back in 2012, when Canada's Harper government announced that it would close down national archive sites around the country, they promised that anything that was discarded or sold would be digitized first. But only an insignificant fraction of the archives got scanned, and much of it was simply sent to landfill or burned.

The destruction of these publicly owned collections was undertaken in haste. No records were kept of what was thrown away, what was sold, and what was simply lost. Some of the books were burned."

CANADA: By closing the Health Council of Canada, Stephen Harper is abandoning national medicare

"Stephen Harper’s Conservative government is abandoning the essential federal role in Canadian health care.

The federal role is to facilitate national approaches to health system issues and promote the pan-Canadian adoption of best practices and innovation. This is the glue that holds medicare together and keeps it responsive to the evolving needs of the Canadian people. Provinces and territories cannot perform this role. The vacuum in federal leadership will fragment the health care system into 14 separate systems operating independently from each other. This fragmentation undermines the core principles of the Canada Health Act, especially comprehensive coverage and portability between provinces and territories."

COLD SHOULDER: ABC, CBS Exclude Scientists Critical of Global Warming for More Than 1,300 Days

"The networks were able to promote the myth that there is a scientific consensus for man-made, catastrophic climate change by including climate alarmists much more often than skeptical scientists and by challenging the credentials of the skeptics that they did include.

Like a simple parlor trick, the networks are able to make skeptical scientists vanish, at least from the eyes of their viewers.

In some cases, the broadcast networks have failed to include such scientists for years, while including alarmist scientists within the past six months. ABC, CBS and NBC's lengthy omission of scientists critical of global warming alarmism propped up the myth of a scientific consensus, despite the fact that many scientists and thousands of peer-reviewed studies disagree."

"You may recall that allegedly the logistical requirements prevented the New York Fed from returning the 300 tons of gold the United States stores for Germany back to Germany.  After a year of waiting, the New York Fed only sent Germany 5 tons of gold.  So only 5 tons of gold was sent from the Fed to Germany, and it wasn’t even the 5 tons that had been originally stored with the Fed.

... anybody with any active brain cells knows that just like Germany, Ukraine will have to wait a very long time, and very likely will never see that gold again.  Meaning, that gold is gone."

China is New Zealand's largest export market. New Zealand in 2008 became the first developed nation to sign a free trade agreement with China."

Businesses seek to capitalize on your smartphone’s digital trail

"Personal details aren’t captured unless you agree, but your smartphone leaves a trail wherever you go.

The signals, a 12-digit code called a MAC address that’s particular to a specific phone, emit 24/7, regardless of whether a person is actively attempting to connect with Wi-Fi.

But at its most basic level, the data is anonymous and gathered without a person’s explicit permission."

Farewell to gluten free: Why we are so easily fooled by pseudoscience and marketing gimmicks when it comes to food

"... gluten has lately acquired a famously bad reputation among trend-savvy nutritionists, who blame it for everything from irritable bowels and autoimmune disorders to bloating and lethargy, even diabetes, depression, autism and schizophrenia. A whole industry has risen up to capitalize on its wholesale rejection, in which gluten-free foods are often sold at a massive mark-up over “regular” products.

But cracks are appearing, not so much in the medical science, which for the truly gluten-intolerant has made major strides in lockstep with the trend, but in gluten as the pop cultural food obsession du jour."

Al Gore: Critics are 'immoral, unethical and despicable'

"Al Gore, known for wild rants about global warming, including one where his foul language earned him the description “mentally unstable,” is at it again.

Just before the end of 2013 came a really bad week for global warming.

Cairo saw its first snow in 100 years. Oregon, like several other states, reached its coldest temperature in 40 years. Chicago saw its coldest days ever, and – as if to add finality to the trend – Antarctica reached the coldest temperature ever recorded anywhere on earth.

Ironically, just a few years ago, believers in anthropogenic (man-caused) global warming – since renamed “climate change” – claimed cold weather and snow would soon be just a memory."

Fed Custody Holdings Record Decline Fuels Russia Speculation

"The record drop in U.S. government securities held in custody at the Federal Reserve is fueling speculation that Russia may have shifted its holdings out of the U.S. as Western nations threaten sanctions.

At a summit in Brussels, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff said the $185 million cable project was central to "guarantee the neutrality" of the Internet, signaling her desire to shield Brazil's Internet traffic from U.S. surveillance."

German Gold Manipulation Blowback Escalates: Deutsche Bank Exits Gold Price Fixing

"Germany's blowback against gold manipulation is accelerating.... possible manipulation of precious metals "is worse than the Libor-rigging scandal", today the response has trickled down to Germany and Europe's largest bank, Deutsche Bank, which announced that it would withdraw from the appropriately named gold and silver price "fixing", as European regulators investigate suspected manipulation of precious metals prices by banks. As a reminder, Deutsche is one of five banks involved in the twice-daily gold fix for global price setting and said it was quitting the process after withdrawing from the bulk of its commodities business."

Dead sea creatures cover 98 percent of ocean floor off California coast as result of Fukushima nuclear fallout

"Though the researchers involved with the work have been reluctant to pin Fukushima as a potential cause — National Geographic, which covered the study recently, did not even mention Fukushima — the timing of the discovery suggests that Fukushima is, perhaps, the cause. According to the data, this sudden explosion in so-called “sea snot,” which is the name given to the masses of dead sea creatures that sink to the ocean floor as food, has skyrocketed since the Fukushima incident occurred."

"When a smartphone user opens Angry Birds, the popular game application, and starts slinging birds at chortling green pigs, spies could be lurking in the background to snatch data revealing the player’s location, age, sex and other personal information, according to secret British intelligence documents.

Venezuela applies double standard to bolivar exchange rate

"There have been a flood of Twitter debates calling the government move nothing more than disguised devaluation that will increase the cost of living, with the underlying problems remaining unresolved.

"It looks like a devaluation, it quacks like a devaluation, it hurts like a devaluation: it's a devaluation," as Reuters quotes one of the Twitter users.

Critics also say the measures could further boost inflation in Venezuela that stood at 56.2 percent in 2013 - already the highest in the Americas."

Scary 1929 market chart gains traction

"There are eerie parallels between the stock market’s recent behavior and how it behaved right before the 1929 crash.

That at least is the conclusion reached by a frightening chart that has been making the rounds on Wall Street. The chart superimposes the market’s recent performance on top of a plot of its gyrations in 1928 and 1929."

China Halts Bank Cash Transfers

"The People’s Bank of China , the central bank, has just ordered commercial banks to halt cash transfers."

"In short, there will be a three-day suspension of domestic renminbi transfers.  There will also be a suspension, spanning nine calendar days, of conversions of renminbi to foreign currency.

The specific reason given—“system maintenance” at the central bank—is preposterous.  It is not credible that during the highest usage period in the year—the weeklong Lunar New Year holiday beginning January 31—the central bank would schedule an upgrade and shut down cash transfers."

First HSBC Halts Large Withdrawals, Now Lloyds ATMs Stop Working

"First HSBC bungles up an attempt at pseudo-capital controls by explaining that large cash withdrawals need a justification, and are limited in order "to protect our customers" (from what - their money?), which will likely result in even faster deposit withdrawals, and now another major UK bank - Lloyds/TSB - has admitted it are experiencing cash separation anxiety manifesting itself in ATMs failing to work and a difficult in paying using debit cards."

China passes India as world’s leading gold consumer

"The lion’s share of sales came from high purity 24 carat gold products bought mostly for investment reasons rather than as jewelry. The same reason led the 'kilobars' and smaller weight investments, setting a new record of 366 tones, which was 47 percent more than in 2012. As for gold coins, only Turkey minted more than Beijing last year."

UK: Prove it: Bank blocking some customers from making large withdrawals without ‘evidence’ of spending need

"If you bank at HSBC in England, don’t plan on making any large cash withdrawals. At least not without a good explanation. Or, maybe even a permission slip.

That’s because a previously unannounced change in banking policy is blocking some customers from making large withdrawals without “evidence” explaining why they need the money from their accounts .

The policy affects customers attempting withdrawals for amounts as little as £5,000 ($8,253)."

IT'S YOUR MONEY.

JPMorgan's Gold Vault Has Biggest One-Day Withdrawal Ever

"... JPM accumulation was merely in advance anticipation of major withdrawals. How major? Well, on January 23, JPM saw 321,500 ounces of gold depart in one day. This was tied for the single biggest daily withdrawal in history! The last time JPM had an identically sized withdrawal? December 13.... 2012."

The Big Reset: Why China Bought JPMorgan’s Gold Vault

"The office building of JPMorgan with its largest private gold vaults at Chase Manhattan Plaza, opposite to the New York Federal Reserve building, has been recently sold to the Chinese.

This indicates the US and China seem to be working together in advance towards a global currency reset whereby the US, Europe and China will back the SDR’s with their gold reserves so the dollar can be replaced.

We have now arrived at the point where it is not the banks, but the countries themselves that are getting in serious financial trouble. The idea that we can ‘grow our way back’ out of debt is naive. The current solution to ‘park’ debts on to the balance sheets of central banks is just an interim solution."

Genetically-modified salmon approval faces lawsuit

"The salmon from AquaBounty's genetically-modified eggs grow at twice the rate of regular salmon, making them potentially lucrative as farmed fish.

The company has been seeking approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for years to sell the fish as food in the States. It would be the first genetically-modified food animal to win approval."

USA: Fed’s Dirty Little Secret: “The Gold Isn’t There… Exists as Paper IOU’s” (video)

"The response to Germany’s request turned heads all over the world and raised concerns that the Federal Reserve had squandered its gold holdings. But this isn’t the only red flag that was raised. Public pressure reached such levels that the Fed was forced to take steps to maintain confidence in its operations, so it started shipping gold to Germany. Except it turns out that the gold being sent back to the Bundesbank wasn’t actually German gold. It contained none of the original serial numbers, had no hallmarks, and was reportedly just recently melted.

The implications are earth shattering and hit the very core of the problems facing America today. The whole system as it exists is just one big paper IOU."

At the same time reduction of woodland, changing river flow and the urbanisation of flood plains will increase flood risk in many regions."
